Magazine Advert Analysis:
Analysis.
-The main visual element included is the 'plastic beach' where the rule of thirds has been used to place it in the upper 3rd
-The colours used are contrasting and vibrant but this is toned down with the shadows and background.
-The Band logo is the first text visible from the top
-Followed by the new album's name
-Both of these fragments are written in white contrasting with the dark background of the sea.
-we know the album name and the artist who created it straight away
-'THE NEW ALBUM' is written in different font so despite not being in bold it stands out
-out now mirrors the font of the 'New album' text creating unity and informs the viewer of the release date
-A web address is added to involve the viewer more; a pull factor that allows the viewer to explore the product and get to now any background information on the band or album if they wish to
-'Explore Plastic Beach' can be seen as a play on words; a pun on the album name and tourism.
-The final element of this poster is the production company logo which is, in comparison, of a very small size; it does not draw attention away from the main focus.
Conclusion:
The conduction of this research had aided me with my understanding of album poster layout. It's now clear to me that the elements that are major in an album poster, and thus elements that we will have to include in our own poster are:
- Band name
- Album name
- Release date
- Record Label logo
- Website link
- Matching fonts in clear colours that contrast with the background
