When an institution creates a media product they create i for an audience and therefore must consider their likes, dislikes etc. and target specific groups of audiences who hey are aiming the product at. So I conducted research on the different group types to later decide on our target audience:
After researching the different psychographic groups I found that our target audience would include the following groups:
1- 'Aspirers'
2-'Mainsreamers'
Why?
The two groups are statistically the most prominent psychpgraphic groups of pop music listeners, alongside 'strugglers'. Pop appeals to mainstreamers due to it's 'Popularity', hence the name 'pop', it's an easy listen and a common one amongst the masses. Whereas the genre appeals to 'aspirers' due to the focus on image in the pop industry, this psychographic group is typically materialistic therefore would appreciate the costume and makeup elements of the pop industry. These two groups are 'typically younger people' too which would stereotypically mean they are more susceptible to influence and more attracted by the manipulative strategies that the pop industry uses such as brighter colours and enhanced artist appearance through makeup, strong lighting and post-production photoshop fixes, with 'aspireres' often finding idols in pop artists.
