FINAL DIGIPAK - JASLEEN

Final Digipak

Audience feedback to final Digipak

Initial Idea for Digipak

Although the design for the final Digipak and this is the same, it didn't work out this way as the CD needed to be put on the right-hand side for it to open properly. Moreover, the top two images needed to be flipped around so that the Digipak could fold in properly. This is one of the reasons I had to make minor tweaks to my Digipak, apart from that I really did like my Digipak overall.

FINAL MAGAZINE ADVERT - JASLEEN

Final Magazine Advert

Audience Feedback to final Magazine Advert

My Opinion

Comparing this design to my other magazine adverts, I like the concept of this better than the previous ones I had created due to the two still images I had grabbed from my music video, This allows there to be synergistic element between this product, and my other two products. As the same images were used in my Digipak and these shots were used in my Music Video. The images I have used are something you would see on a billboard as it is promoting the artist, the songwriter and the date it is due to be released. The main writing, which is the album/song name and also the name of the songwriter is written bigger than the rest of the writing. Next, is the date to be released and also the website link. I did not want to add any extra images of other social networking sites he has, as they can simply go to his website and track down his social networking sites.

Previous Designs

This design although was the same as my final design, the release date was in a more darker, and bolder writing to make it stand out more.

FINAL MUSIC VIDEO - JASLEEN

Audience Feedback:

My opinion:

I liked the final product very much, as it allowed me to use a different range of tools in order to make this the best video I could for the audience. I wanted it to flow nice and easy, which I believe it did. However, the tricky part was to match the lyrics to the mouth sync, and after several tries, I got the hang of it. I like the way I have constructed the video, using most of the footage I had recorded and had a lot of raw footage allowed me to have an advantage as I had lots to work with.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

START OF THE EDITING PROCESS

There are some gaps within the first video as I wasn't sure what footage to put into what bit of the son I wanted. But as you go along the videos, the gaps are filled with raw footage from the music video.

Here you can see the different shots I have used to merge together my music video.

The skateboarding scene, which i wanted to use the shots we filmed in class: It was hard to put these little shots together as they only lasted a couple of seconds.

At the start I wanted to go in Slow - Motion, but this looked rather unprofessional, so I had gotten rid of it for the real music video.

Final Product: Magazine Advert (Aleksandra + Anelka)

Following audience feedback I had added the social network logos and our Artist's username, this allows audiences to follow our artist and keep updated on all the artist's releases. Furthermore by being on social media it's visible that the artist is current, and makes him more relatable to a teen and young adult demographic; our target audience.
The other conventional elements of our poster include the album title, the release date in a bold font, a website link, the product forms (cd and download) and a record company logo.

Construction: The Mag Advert

Constructing the Magazine Advert for Our Album:

(After having constructed an initial mock-up version I had sought audience feedback from my friends; sending them the product so far and asking for responses. Which were as follows:)

(In response to this I had suggested swapping the middle and bottom picture to this layout:)

(So had created this version:)

(My other friend, however, said:)

(- Because the photos are taken from different angles the mid shot is not on the lime coloured background, but instead the white background of a lit tunnel is captured)
To change this I worked on superimpose with the mock-up poster as my background and a white square as my foreground.
I used colour sliders in the filter menu to change the colour of the foreground to a bright yellow:

After which i masked the foreground around our actor's face, as I did not want to lose the pink effet the lights had given by overlaying it with a yellow one.

The final step was to change the level of opacity which i set to 13. The result I got was:)

However I was not convinced by this as the yellow foggy effect did not look effective.

THE VERSION I ENDED UP WITH WAS:

Research Unsigned Artist

He is seen as the new hottest artist to be on the uprise with his powerful meaning bars filled with knowledge and pain at such a young age saves audience and fan base started to grow when he release his street stars freestyle and his blackbox where he rapped about his life, depression and his brother in prison , the Jamal Edwards gave him a opportunity on the Sbtv warm up session and people went mad and he has been a fan favourite since then especially for myself.

Image result for Santan Dave2016 is shaping up to be the year of Dave. Hailing from Streatham, the 18-year-old rapper and producer has been turning out tracks like Wanna Know – taken from his brand new Six Paths EP – and Thiago Silva (with AJ Tracey) that show lyrical ingenuity and a wisdom beyond his years.

Interviews:

You’re only 18 and your lyrics are very meaningful. Where did you get all of this wisdom?

I had to grow up fast where I came from. I'm from Streatham and there was a lot going on and I had to just be mature. Luckily I had good people around me, good teachers, good friends and my brother and mum.
I had to grow up fast where I came from – I had to be matureDaveWhen did you decide you wanted to spend your life rapping about the things you’ve seen and been through? When I got my first SBTV Warm Up Session with Jamal [Edwards]. That opportunity was one of the biggest things for me and ever since then I’ve taken it proper seriously.
Lots of people your age still go to school, college, and university alongside doing music, are you one of those people?Music is what I’m going to spend the rest of my life doing. My back up plan is in music anyway – if it’s not rap then it’s gonna be through producing. But it is going to be rap. I can’t picture any other way to live.

final product

Final product: Digi-Pak - (Aleksandra Pryt)

The Final Version:

LYRIC BOOKLET
- this insert would be in a pocket located between the front panel of the digi-pak and its first inside panel.

(OUTER FRONT PAGE vv)

(OUTER BACK PAGE^^)

(NOTE:The pages are paired in their double page layouts + The pages are all 1:1 squares but the ones that include lyrics have compressed when formatted to a photo file and upon upload have transformed into a more rectangular shape; this is not the case.)

Construction Process: Digi Pack

Making the Digi Pack:

The initial step to constructing the digi pak was to get stills from the footage we shot that we could use alongside some shots that we took specifically for the digi pak.
Here were some of the stills that i thought had potential  to look most effective:

THE LOGO:
Having previously explored different digi-pak designs I was aware of all the necessary elements and the next step I decided to take is create a logo for 'our' 'record company' in a software called 'logo- maker'.
Taking a look at real Record Label logos we realised that they are mainly simple and mainly in black and white and so adhered to this convention.

We know the importance of audience feedback when it comes to media product creation so sought advice even at this stage, allowing our friends and colleagues to vote on the logo they preferred with the options as follows:

Some feedback we received:

  • 'Number 3 looks a bit more like a film production company rather than a record company'
  • '1 is subtle and looks professional like a real logo'
  • 'It looks more authentic with the text all on one line, but I'm not too keen on the font of 4 so definitely between 5 and 1'
We went with the majority favourite number 1.

The next necessary element to pair with the logo was the copyright information. I viewed other CD's copyright information and altered it to fit our label to gain the most authentic look:

THE NAME OF THE ALBUM:
I felt that the most appropriate choice would be to go for an eponymous/self-titled album; many artists' albums are named after them; especially first time releases. Considering this would be our artist's first album release it would be appropriate that the album was named after him, this is an effective way of getting an artist's name 'out there'.
Some examples of self-titled albums:

PANEL DESIGNS:

Alternative Digi Pack Design:

I based the copyright information text on that of a real product; namely the back of a 'The Who' CD.

A MOCK-UP OF THE FIRST VERSION I HAD PICKED:

After having sought audience feedback, my friend advised that I add the album title to the CD design:

INNER BOOKLET:

Lyric booklet pages:

I decided to use Brayton's real lyrics considering the fact that he has multiple soundcloud releases. i had expected a few to be typed up on the internet (Jaywalk was) but thought I'd have to listen to some carefully to note the lyrics, however the lyrics to all the songs I had listed on the back cover of my digi-pak were easily located on the internet:

(above are two examples of the lyrics)

It was important to make sure that all the lyrics are in order of the songs on the album; this is a convention of digi-paks which makes it easier for the user to navigate.

The final set up I decided on for the digi-pak lyric booklet was:

Update:
After receiving further audience feedback, it was pointed out to me that the DigiPak net would not work in practice as if the net was folded the inside image would be upside down; since then I have implemented these changes:
