Construction: Jaywalk Video Draft 2

Jaywalk Video Draft 2:
I kept track of any changes made to the video by doing rough run-through recordings of each updated version. This allowed me to clearly identify the progress that was being made, and see the impact of audience feedback on my work.

Changes made from Draft 1 based on audience feedback:

Key:  Element/shot
Issue
  • The Initial opening sequence of the 'reverse' was taken out, following consultation with audiences, who had agreed that it should be taken out as it potentially looks a bit 'tacky' and takes away from any professionalism, undercutting it with a very amateurish element.
  • In my audience feedback people had commented on the continuity of the dolly tracking shot from the front in the first scene in the first verse (house exterior): where our actor is walking from the same spot twice despite it being two separate shots, this does not show progression and therefore tarnishes the continuity of the video fragment. Precise editing was therefore used to cut away from the beginning of the second clip to create the illusion of continued movement and make the scene look more realistic.
  • Audience's had also suggested that the first chorus should be intersected with more shots to contrast with the black background like i had done with the cut to the bag drop on the lyric  'Jaywalk' ,make it more interesting. From this feedback I decided to place in another cutaway; a shot of our actor walking away in the same location. This was indeed more effective as a larger amount of cuts changes the pace of the video and the chorus is quite upbeat meaning a larger quantity of cuts is more appropriate. Furthermore this bridges the verse and chorus together, presenting them as two coherent elements rather than entirely separate ones.
